Life Update!

It’s been a crazy past few days and next week is going to be even crazier… So here’s what’s been going on:

  1. My classes are going great! On Tuesday we did our first news production in my broadcasting class. I was a writer and camera operator. It was awesome ;)
  2. MY HAIR IS BLACK!! I had to dye it for the play. At first it was a huge shock but it’s starting to grow on me.
  3. So Halloween happened. The day before my mom, Christian and I all carve pumpkins. Christian’s is the minion, mine is the mortal instruments symbol thingy (lol) and my mom’s is the ghost. Halloween night was very rainy… I stayed inside, watched my shows, relaxed & enjoyed my mom’s homemade chilli. 
  4. Okay so opening night is in less than a week. If you didn’t know already, since the beginning of school I’ve been rehearsing for this show. I’m super excited to finally perform and also really nervous! This next week is going to be insane but I’ve met some really awesome people in the theatre program so it’ll be fun!!

It was such a gorgeous fall day today to explore Starved Rock State Park (the same place where Christian proposed)!! My mom, my dad & I hiked for almost four hours on the trails. We explored canyons, caves, overlooks and even went off the marked path a few times ;) My parents were such troupers considering the millions of stairs they had to climb! Hence why you see my mother struggling in a few of those pictures; I just had to capture it.

It was so beautiful today! The weather wasn’t too cold and there was just the right amount of leaves that had changed. Fall is definitely one of my  favorite times of the year, I just love the colors! We did some serious exploring and even found a little cave. My knees did really well today and I’m thinking that once my play is over in three weeks I’ll finally be able to start on a regular running schedule again, which I’m really excited about!!! They should be completely healed by then & I’ll have much more time.

After a long day of hiking we went to a restaurant nearby and I enjoyed a very delicious & well-deserved plate of chicken fettuccine alfredo. yum yum :)

Immune System Boosting Juice:
2 apples
3 carrots 
1/2 inch of ginger
1/2 lemon
It’s officially flu season & I’m already starting to feel a slight tickle in my throat. This is one of my favorite juices by far! The lemon & ginger are great to ward off any sort of sickness. I’m so busy lately and I absolutely cannot afford to be sick. I even squeezed a lemon & put it in my water bottle for the day! Gotta be extra cautious…

Breakfast: bacon, scrambled eggs & strawberries (I had a lot more bacon & strawberries, they’re just not pictured)
Lunch: bean tostadas with tomatoes, salsa, cheese, guacamole & lettuce
Dinner: lots of veggie stew!!

Weekend Recap:

It was a busy busy weekend. I’m also just getting the chance to post about it because this week is crazy. I’m working the night shift in the computer lab right now & no one’s here so I can finally post! Here’s what went down:

  • Christian’s birthday was on Sunday but really we celebrated all weekend! How adorable is that picture of him & his niece?!
  • I played A LOT of Grand Theft Auto V. Now I’m obsessed. It’s probably going to become an issue…
  • I had my first rehearsal for the play & it was awesome! I was pretty nervous but I think now I’m starting to really feel comfortable on stage.
  • And finally… my lovely knees are finally starting to look & feel a bajillion times better. I’ve been riding my exercise bike whenever I have time and it seems to be helping!! Yay! Hopefully I’ll be running again soon.

cassandraoftroy → Hi! This is going to seem a little creepy, but I was going through the Trojan Women tag and I saw that you got cast as Cassandra! I wanted to say Break a Leg! I played Cassandra in the exact same adaptation a couple of years ago and she's a great character to play. I hope you enjoy it!

Thank you all so much for the support & encouragement. You guys are awesome! It’s really tough to go from running four times a week to not running at all. I’m going to try to slowly ease myself back into it though. There’s a 5K in late October that I would really like to do but I also have to remember not to push it. I’m just going to listen to my body and if it’s not meant to be then so be it. I’ll run my half marathon sooner or later :)
